Bosses in How to Really Fish are hooked creatures with health bars, not separate raid instances. You still catch them, then you fight them on a dock that was never designed for a whale. This page is the trophy and prep list. Bring the beginner route if you have not landed a normal fish yet.
The keep rule
If a drop has a unique name, a quest sparkle, or looks like a shell, fin, head, or kraken piece, do not sell it until every nearby NPC has finished talking. This is the number one progression wipe in fishing-action games, and the Roblox beta copied the same trap. Ordinary fish feed the money loop. Trophies feed islands and badges.
Golden Rod explicitly excludes bosses from its 2x gold sell trick. Even if you could vendor a whale, the pass would not double it.
Kraken
Kraken Slayer is awarded to roughly nine in ten players who stick around. That is not a flex badge. It is the studio teaching you that bosses exist.
Prep: any tested gun, a clear dock, and a lure that is not the free shrimp bait if a shop sells a boss-tier option. Fight: stay off the waterline, dump hip-fire into the body, pick up the distinctive piece. After: talk to NPCs before you vendor anything. Then recast for cash.
Solo works. Co-op just shortens the bar. If you die, the Sleeping with the Fishes badge will already be waiting; most accounts have it.
Giant Whale (2500 HP)
Official art shows a Giant Whale at 1962 / 2500 HP with a sniper user and a red dock house. Treat 2500 as the working number until a weekly patch prints a different one.
Prep:
- A long gun. Pistols make this a ten-minute joke.
- Cooked food if Camp Cook is available.
- At least one teammate if you can find one on the 50-player server.
- Empty inventory slots for a large corpse.
Fight: ADS with Right Click, do not stand on the seaward edge, reload behind the house. If the whale launches you, jump-land on wood, not water.
After: keep the trophy. This is the kind of kill that later island teases will ask about. The studio is still promising new islands in the description, so hoarding unique parts is cheaper than guessing which vendor is safe.
Sharks and clawed dock fish
Not every health bar is a story boss. Sharks in the gallery are mid-tier fights you will repeat for cash. The orange clawed fish is a hostile catch. Finish them, sell them, cook them. They are practice for Kraken, not trophies, unless an NPC points at that exact specimen.
Legend and myth
Stuff of Legends and Myth Confirmed are rare badges (low single-digit percent). There is no public, studio-published bait table for them yet. If you hook something with a unique title, treat it as a boss: do not fist it, do not vendor it, screenshot it, then check the fish tier list. Inventing a 1% lure from a Steam wiki will waste your cash.

Party roles
On co-op, assign a hooker, a gunner, and a cook. Three people dumping Uzis into a whale while nobody recasts is a DPS check you already passed; you just will not have a follow-up catch. Solo players should pre-cook, then fight, then cook again. The solo page is the same bosses with slower HP.
After a wipe
Respawn, grab the trophy if it still exists, and do not immediately rebuy the most expensive gun. Check the weapon list for a cash option. Beta wipes of ground items happen; the beta notes call those out when players report them.
Bosses are the reason this Roblox experience is not “another fishing sim.” Catching without this page is a screenshot. Fighting without the keep rule is a stalled island.
