How to treat a pet on the dock
A pet is a moving prop. The loop is still hook, fight, cook, sell. If a companion stands on the landing plank, a clawed fish has one more body to bounce off — usually yours, into the water, into Sleeping with the Fishes. Park pets behind the red house or off the pier edge before you fight.
Do not spend a first-hour cash pile on a pet cosmetic while you still punch sharks. The spend planner ranks lure, shotgun, food, then passes. Pets sit after that list, and the slot pass is not even purchasable.
Two pets
The second slot is a forever pass that was off-sale the day it appeared. Do not buy a first pet to “unlock” a second slot that the shop will not sell. Do not plan a co-op routine around walking two animals. If the pass goes on sale later, this page will say so. Until then, one pet is a maybe; two is a screenshot of a grayed button.
Solo players gain nothing from a second body that cannot hold a gun. A quiet dock and a cooked stack beat a parade.

If you already have a pet
Keep it if you like it. Unequip it for Kraken and whale if it blocks shots or landing. Recast after a weekly bump in case a patch moves companion collision. Use controls if the pet stole an interact bind — Q and E are listed as swap/interact on PC.
Do not vendor a named trophy to buy pet food you have not seen in a shop. Trophy first, fashion later. Bosses still own that rule.
