How to Really Fish Beginner Guide

Crash, catch, cook, sell, survive the Kraken, then stop buying junk.

Getting Started

How to Really Fish drops you on Roblox after a boat crash and expects you to learn two jobs at once: angler and gunner. This page is the first-hour route for the Crazy Fishing Friends beta. It assumes you have read nothing else. When you finish, jump to how to catch and how to fight for depth.

Minute zero

Launch the experience from the official Roblox page. Wait for the dock to stream in. If you spawn in water, swim to wood — drowning is a real way to earn Sleeping with the Fishes before you own a rod. Open the controls cheat sheet: Left Click and Right Click handle cast and fire, Q and E swap or interact, Shift is the extra movement bind. Mobile players use the on-screen cluster the studio listed in the description.

Do not open the Robux shop yet. Dual Uzis (259 Robux) and the Golden Rod (399 Robux) are permanent passes. They help, they are not required for the first Kraken. Spend your first cash on a lure and a cheap gun instead.

First catch

Stand on a pier or boat deck facing open water. Equip the starter rod. Cast with Left Click, wait for the bite, then reel. The hooked fish does not pay you until it is dead and sold. A live orange clawed fish on the line will slap you; that is why the dock screenshots show a shotgun mid-cast. Finish the creature, pick it up, and look for a sell NPC or sell prompt. The First Catch badge fires here for almost every account.

If the rod does nothing, you are aimed at grass, a house, or another player. The green grid thumbnails you see in trailers are not the only floor — some islands use that ground, the starter dock does not. Walk until the camera sees blue water under the bobber.

First $100 and cooking

The First $100 badge is common because ordinary fish plus a single cook already get you there. If a camp or grill exists on your island, hold a sellable fish in the cook interaction until the Camp Cook badge pops. Cooking is the quiet multiplier. Selling raw shrimp forever is how people stall before First $1000.

Keep anything with a unique name. Kraken parts, whale meat labeled as a trophy, or quest items look like vendor trash and are not. The boss guide lists the keep rule. Everything else goes into cash for the next lure.

First fight you should take: Kraken

Kraken Slayer is awarded to most players. That means the studio placed this boss on the early path, not at the end. Prepare with:

  • A gun you have fired at a normal shark already
  • Food or a cooked fish if healing exists in your build of the beta
  • Space on the dock so the Kraken does not knock you into deep water

Solo is fine. Friends make the HP bar drop faster — see co-op if you have a squad. After the kill, do not vendor the distinctive drop until you talk to every NPC on the island.

What to buy with the first thousand

First $1000 is the real filter. Buy in this order:

  1. A lure that actually hooks the local pool (see lure tier list).
  2. A shotgun or pistol you can hip-fire while a fish is still on the line (see weapons).
  3. Inventory space if the beta sells a backpack. Extra slots stop you from dropping a trophy.
  4. Only then look at Golden Rod. The pass turns ordinary fish golden for 2x sell value and explicitly excludes bosses. It does not raise catch chance.

Skip cosmetic hats. Skip a second pet slot until you actually own one pet. The second pet pass was not even for sale in the mid-September catalog snapshot.

First $10,000 and the Giant Whale

The Giant Whale screenshot on this wiki shows 1962 / 2500 HP and a sniper user mid-air. That fight is a money sink if you enter with a pistol and no cooked food. Farm the money route until you can afford a long gun and a stack of heals, then bring a friend. Master Angler is a 0.3% badge; you do not need it this week.

Safety habits for a beta

Weekly patches move shops. If a vendor vanished, check the weekly tracker before you assume a wipe. Codes are not part of the first hour — the codes hub is empty until the group publishes a string.

You are not playing Steam How to Fish. Beer-can Spider Crab routes will waste your lure budget. Stay on these Roblox pages.

When the first hour is done, the next reads are how to catch, how to fight, and bosses. They form a triangle: miss one side and the other two stall.

FAQ

Do I need Dual Uzis to start?

No. They are a 259 Robux forever pass. A cash shotgun is enough for the early Kraken.

Why did I die before catching anything?

You spawned in water or stood in a live fish. Get to a dock, then read controls.

Should I sell Kraken drops?

Not until NPCs are done talking. Details on the boss page.

Is solo possible?

Yes. The solo page covers the same route without a party.
